Sister Bingham Joins Combined Sacrament Meeting in Pasay

Relief Society General President Sister Jean B. Bingham of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in her visit to the Philippines in February, attended a special combined sacrament meeting at the Russel Avenue Meetinghouse of the Pasay Philippines Stake (diocese).

Accompanied by her husband, Brother Bruce Bingham, Sister Bingham took the opportunity to share her testimony of the Restored Gospel and the blessings it brought to her life in front of hundreds of members of the Pasay 2, Pasay 4 and Pasay 5 Wards (congregations).

“Because this Church was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, we all know that we are sons and daughters of Heavenly Parents who love us and they want us to come home to their Heavenly Home,” she said.

Following the sacrament meeting, Sister Bingham conducted a Focus Group Discussion with several Relief Society leaders. Their discussion centered around the ministering efforts of each ward and gospel teaching in the home.

Accompanying sister Bingham were her husband, Brother Bruce Bingham and Elder and Sister Julius Barrientos of the Seventy.

Sister Bingham was in the country to learn more about the successful implementation of the Nutrition Program in the Catarman Philippines Stake in Northern Samar. She also traveled to Toledo City in Cebu to observe the Nutrition Screening of the Toledo Philippine District (small diocese) as they kickstarted their program.

Moreover, Sister Bingham conducted ministering visits to different families in Catarman Municipality and Cebu City.

Essence of Ministering

While in the country, Sister Bingham observed that ministering plays an important role in the spiritual, emotional and physical health of a person. During her trip to Catarman, she learned that ministering visits by members played a key role in the improvement of nutrition in the country.

Not only did they see increased levels of nutrition in undernourished children, but many families and individuals also developed a genuine friendship and care for one another.
