Latter-day Saints in PH to Participate in #HearHim Easter Campaign

As the country observes Holy Week, Latter-day Saints in the Philippines prepare to #HearHim, a new Easter campaign initiated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It will run through Holy Week until Easter Sunday, 12 April 2020.

During the Sunday morning session of the April General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson spoke about the need to hear and listen to Jesus Christ’s voice.

“Our efforts to hear Him need to be ever more intentional,” said President Nelson “It takes conscious and consistent effort to fill our daily lives with His words, His teachings, His truths. We simply cannot rely upon information we bump into on social media with billions of words online and in a marketing saturated world constantly infiltrated by noisy nefarious efforts of the adversary.”

In relation to this, the Church has released a short video on ComeUntoChrist.org and the Church’s social media channels to invite everyone to hear Jesus Christ’s words.

Additionally, members of the Church are invited to participate in the following activities:

Handel’s Messiah Stream

The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square invites people from across the globe to enjoy the Internet streaming of Handel’s Messiah during the Holy Week. The streaming will begin on Good Friday, 10 April at 7:00 pm (MDT) on various digital channels, including smart speakers.

It has been a yearly tradition for the world-renowned Tabernacle Choir to hold a Messiah sing-off during Easter Season. Due to COVID-19, there will be a re-air of the 2018 Messiah concert instead. Visit TabernacleChoir.org for more information.

Holy Week Daily Prompts

Another option for people to invite Jesus Christ’s influence in their lives is to receive daily prompts all throughout the week. Anyone can signup and receive daily inspiring #HearHim messages. US Residents have the option to receive messages through text notification. Visit HearHim.org to sign-up for daily prompts.

Worldwide Fast

In the Saturday evening session of the 190th General Conference, President Nelson called on everyone around the world to fast and pray for relief and healing from the COVID-19 pandemic. The global fast will take place on Good Friday, 10 April.

“Let us unite in pleading for healing throughout the world,” the prophet said. “Good Friday would be the perfect day to have our Heavenly Father and His Son hear us! … Let us prayerfully plead … that the present pandemic may be controlled, caregivers protected, the economy strengthened, and life normalized,” he said.

The Philippines Area Presidency shared a message in response to the call on the Newsroom of the Church in the Philippines.

General conference Rebroadcast

With prohibitions on religious gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Latter-day Saints all over the Philippines will be able to watch and listen to the sessions of the April General Conference rebroadcast nationwide. Beginning on Maundy Thursday, 9 April, members and friends of the Church can tune in to GMA and ABS-CBN DZMM Teleradyo 630. Full schedules of the General Conference rebroadcast are available here.

Inspiring Messages on Social media

All throughout the Holy Week, members and friends of the Church will be able to see and share content centered around Jesus Christ and His Atonement as well as faith and testimonies from Latter-day Saints.
