Church Improves Water and Power Infra of Maa Elementary School

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, continuing its commitment to supporting quality education in the Philippines, has provided additional electrical infrastructure and plumbing for a four-story building, along with four computer sets, workstation tables with chairs, three industrial fans, and 1,000 monobloc chairs to Maa Central Elementary School.

Sharina Aiya Paye, the Student Council President of Maa Elementary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the improvements, noting that the items received have addressed the school's critical needs.

“Our comfort rooms now have running water, so we no longer struggle to fetch water from the ground floor and take it to the higher floors. Before, we had only one or two faucets downstairs, and students had to race for their turn,” she said.

“Now we can flush and clean the CRs properly. Last month, our lights on the fourth floor blew out, leaving us with no electricity. It was so hot, and being directly under the sun on the fourth floor was unbearable. The new lights are a big help, especially for afternoon students whose classes extend into the evening,” Paye explained.

She also highlighted the benefits of the new computers and printers, adding, “The computers help us with research and printing, which we really need to cope up with homework and other school requirements.”

The partnership between Maa Elementary School and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints exemplifies the impact of collective efforts to address pressing needs in education and infrastructure, leaving a “legacy that will be engraved in the school’s academic history,” remarked Mel Joy B. Baral, the school principal.

Edgardo Fernando, Director for Temporal Affairs of the Church, emphasized the organization’s commitment to service inspired by their faith. “Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe in following the Savior’s two great commandments: to love God and to love our neighbor. As part of this mandate, we seek to maximize our impact so that our efforts to care for those in need bless not only the recipients but also their families and communities,” he shared during the handover ceremony.

Teachers and administrators expressed their excitement for the improved facilities, which they believe will create a more conducive environment for learning and overall student well-being.

The donation emphasizes the Church’s ongoing commitment to uplifting communities and improving educational access around the Philippines.
