Barangay Maa has received emergency response equipment from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which will strengthen its preparedness for calamities.
The donation items include flotation devices, rescue helmets, headlamps, and a fiberglass boat with a trailer, which addresses the critical needs of the barangay’s disaster response efforts.
Barangay Captain Pacito D. Canete expressed his gratitude during the turnover ceremony on November 15, 2024, at the Maa National High School. "On behalf of Barangay Maa, I would like to convey my deepest thanks to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for its overwhelming generosity," he said. "This donation will greatly assist us in responding to flooding and other natural and man-made calamities and will help with the safety and well-being of our community and our people."
Rizaldito Castro, Priesthood leader of the Davao Philippines Stake (diocese) also voiced his appreciation for the opportunity to serve and strengthen the Church’s relationship with Barangay Maa. “Please know that these donations come from our hearts,” he said. “We look forward to working together to achieve our shared goals for the community," he added.
Edgardo Fernando, the Church's Director for Temporal Affairs, meanwhile, highlighted the Church’s commitment to service, inspired by faith. "Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints strive to follow the Savior’s two great commandments: to love God and to love our neighbors," he said. This donation is part of our broader effort to care for those in need and support the well-being of their families and communities."

This includes providing food to the hungry, offering healthcare and disability support, improving access to clean water and sanitation, and responding to natural disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, and floods.
