The Philippines Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is inviting everyone to attend the Roots Tech Connect this February 25-27, 2021.
Sponsored by FamilySearch International, Roots Tech Connect is a virtual conference focused on using technology to celebrate and connect families. It is completely free and open to the public. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites its members and friends to join us by pre-registering at the RootsTech website. Participation in this worldwide event will enable all to explore and utilize vast resources in the process of discovering their own unique family history.
RootsTech Connect will feature celebrity keynote speakers, classes on a variety of topics, in multiple languages from speakers selected from around the world. Numerous multi-cultural activities will also be provided. Youth attendees are highly encouraged to participate in the event as the organizers have planned interactive activities specifically geared towards younger attendees. The virtual conference will also provide opportunities to interact with other attendees and participate in a virtual marketplace in place of an expo hall.
The event will utilize a combination of a live stream and on-demand content to ensure access to attendees regardless of difficulties created by differing time zones. Recorded content will be available year-round after the event, ensuring that attendees are able to utilize all resources at their own pace.
This year, the keynote speakers for the conference include Lorena Ochoa, a retired professional golfer, Francesco Lotoro, a musical archivist working on restoring and recovering music written in concentration camps worldwide, Sharon Morgan, writer and founder of Our Black Ancestry, Nick Vujicic, world-famous motivational speaker, and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles as well as his wife, Sister Patricia T. Holland.
Elder Steven R. Bangerter of the Philippines Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites all to attend. He states, “We invite all to discover with us the joy, wonder, and miracles to be experienced during the Roots Tech Connect experience! We are drawn to family history by a Spirit that works among us, in our hearts and upon our minds, drawing our thoughts, curiosities, and efforts back to those of our ancestors who lived before us. Whose lives established legacies from which we draw strength. Our inherent interest in the names and lives of those who went before, and whom we discover in the course of research, goes deeper than just human curiosity. It is driven by more than just an intellectual interest in our personal or family history. In the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our heartfelt desire to know our ancestors is a desire borne of the Spirit of God, turning our hearts to our ancestors, thereby enabling us to become participants in their lives. Come, join with us in this fascinating process of discovery", Elder Bangerter concluded.
RootsTech Connect, considered the largest family history gathering in the world, is sponsored by FamilySearch. To register visit RootsTech.org.
