Turned over to the PSU's Roxas Campus were desktop computers, projectors, smart TVs, wireless microphone sets and a sound system. Additionally, the campus received two autoclaves and three medical beds for its clinic. The College of Teacher Education received literacy kits, printers, laminating machine and other educational tools to help the 85 teaching students who are also tutoring 136 struggling learners from Abanico Elementary School.
PSU's Roxas Campus has a library with only one computer for its 2,200 college students.
Professor Aileen C. Garcellano, chairperson of PSU's Department of Elementary Education, expressed her gratitude to the Church, saying, “We promise you that we will utilize and maximize these items to reach our goals in assisting our target learners.”
Dr. Mary G. Alvior, dean of the College of Teacher Education, challenged the students and faculty to share the same love, concern and benevolence to the target learners.
Also present at the equipment turnover held on August 1 and 2 were Diosdado V. Baniago, president of Puerto Princesa Philippines Stake (diocese), Bishop Jaworsquim Bontoyan, Dr. Annabell Gacayan, dean of PSU Oriental Cluster, Dr. Flornita Ferrer, director of Roxas Campus, and Elder and Sister Gardner, Humanitarian Services missionaries.
In his remarks, President Baniago shared stories from the scriptures about service and giving, emphasizing that as children of God we are taught to love and serve one another as Jesus Christ has done.
“Indeed, this is a heartwarming experience for me. It is such a blessing as a WSR Senior Service Missionary to be involved and witness the happiness and gratitude of the recipients with all of the Church’s donations,” Sister Maria Elisa M. Duking said.
