Latter-day Saint Charities Receives Plaque of Recognition from the Armed Forces of the Philippines

Latter-day Saint Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints received a Plaque of Recognition from the Armed Forces of the Philippines on 7 April 2021. The award was presented during the Stakeholders Recognition Program in celebration of the 34th Founding Anniversary of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM). 

Elder Jairus Perez, Country Director for Latter-Day Saint Charities, accepted the award. He was joined by LDSC missionaries Elder and Sister Orencia, as well as Sharon Perez, Angeles Area Communication Council Director.

The Plaque of Recognition stated the grateful appreciation and recognition of their invaluable support extended to the Command in pursuing peace, stability, and progress in our area of responsibility.

"Your sacrifices and relentless efforts have significantly contributed to the fulfillment of the NOLCOM’s mission as defenders of the North, guardians of our sovereignty, and protectors of the Filipino people", they concluded.

Lieutenant General Arnulfo Marcelo B. Burgos Jr., the Chief Commanding Officer of Northern Luzon Command expressed his gratitude for the awardees and how the Armed Forces of the Philippines addressed the nationwide effects of the pandemic. “We the defenders of the North who are celebrating the 34th Anniversary have faced challenging times. But we also have come to know how interconnected we are. No one is safe until everyone is safe. We responded to natural disasters as our people are endangered. To the defenders of the North, to recall our hard-earned successes", he concluded.

As part of the Church’s relief efforts to help address specific needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC), the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, continues to provide support to government agencies and local government units.
