Latter-day Saints Reinforce Bible Study

2022 Sunday School Curriculum Focuses on the Old Testament

In December 2018, Under Republic Act 11163, President Rodrigo Duterte designated the last Monday of January as National Bible Day. It was declared as a special working holiday, with the week of the holiday being National Bible Week.

The R.A reads, "As a predominantly Christian nation and the largest Christian nation in the Asia Pacific, this Act recognizes the value of the Holy Bible as the core of Christian faith,"

This celebration has been more meaningful with this year's celebration of 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints recognizes the Bible as a word of God and recognizes its importance as canonized scripture.

With this, the church announced that in 2022, children, youth, and adults in the church are encouraged to study at home the Bible's Old Testament, which predicted and prophesied of the coming of the Savior, His life and Atonement.

For National Bible Week, Filipino families share their testimonies of the Bible.

Our study of the Bible helps my family and me to live a happy life that only the gospel of Jesus Christ could bring. The Come Follow Me program allows us to bond together as a family. By studying together, we build a better relationship with each other. We always laugh and learn from each other's insights and opinions. I'm grateful that the Bible reminds me that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The Bible helps us live the fullness of the Gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I realized that when we study the Bible as a family, we have more time for each other. I'm grateful for the inspiration and knowledge the Bible gives. I'm thankful for the assurance it provides that God will always be with us, especially in our difficult times.

-Mary Jane Reyes, Olongapo

When we study the Bible, we feel very close to our savior Jesus Christ. Every time we study the Bible in Come Follow Me, we grow closer as a family. I am grateful for the Bible because I feel that Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ are always on my side every time I read it.

-Joel Jimenez, Batac, Philippines

Studying the Bible as a family helps us build unity, love, and understanding for each other. As we make our study of the Bible a priority, I notice that we become close together as a family despite our differences. Indeed, studying the Bible or the scriptures helps us come closer to God. It helps us understand the life of Jesus Christ and how we can become more like them.
