First Presidency Announces 2024 Philippines Area Leadership

On April 20, 2024, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the 2024–2025 area leadership assignments. The changes will take effect on August 1, 2024.

The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve preside over all affairs of the Church. Members of area presidencies are General Authority Seventies or Area Seventies. Area presidencies consist of a president and two counselors who operate from area offices in each assigned area.

The Church of Jesus Christ has 23 areas—six that span the United States and Canada and 17 additional areas outside those two countries.

Elder Carlos G. Revillo Jr.

Church Service

Elder Carlos G. Revillo Jr. was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 3, 2021. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Eighth Quorum of the Seventy in the Philippines Area.

Elder Revillo has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Philippines Bacolod and Cebu Mission, bishop, stake president, president of the Philippines Quezon City Mission from 2013 to 2016, and currently, second counselor to the Philippines Area Presidency.

Professional Life

Elder Revillo received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Santo Tomas in 1986. He has worked for Procter and Gamble Company for 22 years in various management positions in the Philippines, Asia Pacific region, and at their global headquarters in the USA. He also worked as head of quality, food safety, and regulatory affairs in Asia for Kellogg Company from 2011 to 2013, when he was called to serve as a mission president. At the time of his call as a General Authority Seventy, he had been working as a welfare and self-reliance manager in the Philippines Area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Personal Life

Carlos Garcia Revillo Jr. was born in General Santos City, Philippines, on November 8, 1965. He married Marie Enriquez Fernando in 1989. They are the parents of four children.

Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong

Church Service

Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 5, 2014. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Eighth Quorum of the Seventy in the Asia Area. He served as a member of the Asia Area Presidency and later as president of the Canada Vancouver Mission. He is currently serving as the President of the North America Central Area.

Since joining the Church in 1982, Elder Wong has served in numerous Church callings, including bishop and stake president.

Professional Life

Elder Wong received both a bachelor of science degree in accounting and an associate of science degree in computer science from Brigham Young University–Hawaii. In 2008 he received his MBA from the Hong Kong Open University.

Personal Life

Chi Hong (Sam) Wong was born in Hong Kong SAR, China, on May 25, 1962. He married Carol Lu in July 1983. They are the parents of four children.

Elder Michael B. Strong

Church Service

At the time of his call as a General Authority Seventy, Elder Michael B. Strong was serving as a member of the Twelfth Quorum of the Seventy in the Utah Area. Previous Church callings include full-time missionary in the Bolivia Cochabamba Mission, bishop, stake president, and president of the Perú Lima Central Mission from 2018 to 2021.

Professional Life

Elder Strong received a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and a minor in chemistry from Brigham Young University in 1989 and a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1993.

Personal Life

Michael Brent Strong was born in Salt Lake City on Aug. 6, 1965. He married Cristin Connelly on Aug. 22, 1987, in the Salt Lake Temple; they are the parents of six children. Elder and Sister Strong reside in Centerville, Utah.
