Church enhances the quality of education in Paoay Central Elementary School

In a bid to help strengthen the quality education of grade school students in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints partnered with Paoay Central Elementary School (PCES) and necessary equipment for both learners and teachers last 3 October 2023.

The learning equipment and materials, including five Smart TVs, 10 Water Dispensers, two Laptops, two Water Tank Sets, two Electric Pumps, and essential first-aid and other medical equipment, were warmly received by PCES students and officers alike.

Principal Mrs. Jeanette Yap, faculty members, local Department of Education officials and officers of the school’s Parent-Techers Association represented the school during the turnover event. On the other hand, Welfare and Self-Reliance Services Coordinator Mr. Willie Estrada, Philippines Batac Stake President Jeramel Lincuna, and humanitarian service missionaries, among others, represented the Church.

During the event, Paoay Central Elementary School students presented a talent show titled "Sabunganay," a traditional dance often celebrated during the Guling-Guling Festival. The lively atmosphere reflected the unity and celebration among the stakeholders.

Principal Mrs. Jeanette Yap expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation, assuring careful equipment management for the students' benefit. She also admired the Church for a long-term partnership to benefit more learners of PCES.

Mr. Franklin Quevedo echoed these sentiments, appreciating the collaborative efforts that made this initiative possible.

Student representative Mr. Christian Kyle Asuncion conveyed deep gratitude on behalf of all students, emphasizing the massive benefits the donated resources would have on their future. Mr. James Galano, President of the Alumni Association of the School, also expressed his heartfelt appreciation.

The humanitarian project at PCES, like all similar efforts in the Philippines and across the globe, illustrates the core values of the Church’s efforts to care for those in need.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides aid to people worldwide without regard to cultural or religious affiliation. These humanitarian efforts help people attain self-sufficiency so they can be self-reliant long after the humanitarian project ends.
