6 Hours of Service In Celebration of 60 Years of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Philippines

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have celebrated the National Day of Service every year. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, members of the Church can continue to serve as the Philippines Area Presidency launches #GiveThanksAndServe today, May 1.

#GiveThanksAndServe is an invitation for each member of the Church to devote 6 hours of service in celebration of 60 years of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Philippines. “In every thing give thanks ( 1 Thessalonians 5:18). No matter our situation, showing gratitude is a unique, fast acting, and long lasting spiritual prescription," President Russell M. Nelson said. Members of the Church can unite together to give thanks through service.

Here are some steps to get started.

1. Say a prayer of thanks
Take time to reflect on your blessings and kneel in prayer to thank our Heavenly Father. Gratitude brings even more blessings.

2. Plan of ways to serve
With a heart open to Hear Him, plan ways you and your family can render service in the community where you live with the "new normal" in mind.

3. Journal your service on social media
For everything you do, post about it by sharing your stories using the #GiveThanksAndServe hashtag. As we fill our lives with the joy of service, we radiate the Savior’s light to the world.
