Church of Jesus Christ Donates Over ₱1.1M Worth of Equipment to Boost Nutrition in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur

In a heartfelt demonstration of faith and community service, The San Francisco Philippines Stake (diocese) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints formally turned over essential health and IT equipment worth ₱1,123,610.00 to the Municipality of San Francisco during the Flag Raising Ceremony held on July 21, 2025. The donation coincides with the celebration of the 51st Nutrition Month, themed “Food and Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”

The donation includes 27 units each of height boards, hanging salter scales, desktop computer sets, and Epson 3-in-1 printers along with 3 adult mechanical weighing scales (Detecto). These resources will be distributed across 27 barangays, including Alegria, Bayugan 2, Borbon, Caimpugan, Ebro, and the five Poblacion barangays, significantly enhancing local nutrition services and data management capabilities.

President Charles B. Galgo of San Francisco Stake led the turnover and emphasized the Church’s commitment to serve all communities, regardless of religious affiliation. “The greatest form of love is service,” he said.

Norman D. Dolorfino, Church Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager, expressed gratitude to the Local Government Unit (LGU) and highlighted the importance of the equipment in supporting local nutrition programs. Quoting Matthew 22:37, he reminded attendees that serving others is a true expression of loving God.

Brother Jude Solidarios, LDS Charities staff member, reinforced the Church’s mission to uplift children and ease the workload of barangay health workers.

LGU representative Rosalinda De Paz shared her appreciation for the Church’s consistent support, recalling its aid during the Bohol earthquake. “This new equipment will improve the accuracy of nutrition data and strengthen school-based nutrition initiatives,” she added.

To formally recognize this act of generosity, the Sangguniang Bayan of San Francisco passed Resolution No. 142, Series of 2025, extending its deepest gratitude to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its socially responsive and compassionate service.

This collaboration between a faith-based organization and the local government reflects a shared commitment to building a healthier, more hopeful future for all.
