Uniharmony Interfaith Luncheon Builds Bridges of Wisdom, Compassion, and Unity

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted an interfaith luncheon on August 28, 2025, in Alabang, bringing together religious and community leaders to promote dialogue, understanding, and unity in celebration of World Interfaith Harmony Week.

The gathering aimed to strengthen relationships among diverse faith traditions and provide a foundation for interfaith discussions that support both community building and nation-building.

Among the invited leaders was Ms. Annalyn Mercado of the Social Services Department of the Muntinlupa City Government, who also serves as a leader in the El Shaddai community. She was joined by several church leaders and representatives from different denominations, including Iglesia Filipina Independiente, Brahma Kumaris Philippines, the Catholic Church, Five Wounds Parish, Aglipayan Church Alabang, ABCI Muntinlupa (Association of Born-Again Christian Incorporation), and other faith organizations in and around Muntinlupa City.

After a roundtable introduction of all participants, leaders shared brief but heartfelt reflections on the luncheon’s theme: Wisdom, Compassion, and Unity. Messages emphasized how these values reflect the example of the Savior Jesus Christ, with participants describing the warm spirit of harmony present during the gathering.

A group photo was taken in front of the Alabang Philippines Temple, symbolizing the shared commitment of faith communities to work together in love and respect.

In his concluding remarks, President Nomar Nivera of the Las Piñas Philippines Stake (diocese) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reminded everyone of their shared divine identity as children of God. Quoting Luke 2:52, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man,” President Nivera encouraged all present to follow the Savior’s perfect example by loving God and serving their neighbors.

The program ended with a closing prayer and a shared meal, marking not only the conclusion of the event but also the beginning of strengthened bonds across faith traditions.

More than a luncheon, the gathering stood as a testament to the power of interfaith dialogue to foster peace, compassion, and unity—values essential to building stronger communities and a more harmonious nation.
