Tagumeños Share Thoughts on International Day of Happiness

Many factors can make someone happy. It could be achievements, good memories, and many more. In celebration of International Day of Happiness, 2 members of the church in Tagum share simple encounters of how they experienced happiness in their lives.

Vanessa Gay Nang, a local communication team leader and a mother of seven children shared how service can affect someone’s happiness. She said, “I am always at my happiest when I serve in the church. In my current role, I am most happy when I see other communication teams put into action what they have learned, after being trained, thus producing a successful event.” Serving the Lord brings happiness and joy to someone’s life. No matter how big or small we think our actions may seem, our righteous decisions can bring good things to others and ourselves.

Nelson Casiano, a father of two children, also gave his remarks about the sacred nature of happiness. He recalled an experience he had a few months back while traveling to an interfaith event that gave him a happy memory. He said, “I remember the time when my car almost ran out of gasoline while traveling through the zigzag road of Claveria, Misamis Oriental. I’ve witnessed a miracle from God by feeling safe and protected.

My answered prayer improved my relationship with Him. I learned that He will never forsake us when our hearts are full of love and good intentions. Instead of feeling fear that night, I felt happiness. It is true that a leap of faith can change fear into hope. He guided me throughout the travel. The happiness I felt when I was traveling will always be a story of trust and faith in Him."

Nelson Casiano and Vanessa Gay Nang’s experiences teach that even though these are “perilous times”, happiness is achieved no matter what the circumstances look like. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of happiness. Following His teachings leads to more happiness in this life and the life to come.
