In a significant boost to local healthcare services, Roxas Medicare Hospital has received a generous donation of medical and office equipment from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This contribution is expected to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver faster, more efficient, and responsive care to residents of Roxas and neighboring municipalities.

The donation was formally turned over on July 7, 2025, during a ceremony attended by hospital staff and representatives of the Church. Dr. Jeremy Laguda, Chief of Hospital, expressed heartfelt gratitude, emphasizing that the new resources will be used with utmost dedication to serve the community’s healthcare needs.
Church representatives present included Diosdado Baniago, President of the Puerto Princesa Philippines Stake (diocese), and Jaworsquim Bontoyan of the Roxas Ward (congregation), along with humanitarian missionaries Elder Joel and Sister Gardner and other local leaders. They reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to humanitarian service and community partnerships throughout the country.
Representing the local government was Atty. Orlando Baalan, on behalf of Mayor Pedy B. Sabando, who highlighted ongoing LGU initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Roxas, including:
• Financial assistance for patients in need
• Increased budget for medicines and essential medical supplies
• Recruitment of additional healthcare professionals
• Acquisition of new rescue vehicles for faster patient transport, especially from remote barangays
“These collective efforts bring us closer to a healthcare system that is accessible, responsive, and compassionate,” Atty. Baalan remarked.
In line with its service expansion, Roxas Medicare Hospital also announced the availability of X-ray services, now open to the public Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This collaboration between the hospital, the local government, and the Church underscores a shared commitment to community well-being. It demonstrates how institutional cooperation can lead to meaningful and lasting improvements in public service.
With strengthened facilities and renewed purpose, Roxas continues to build a healthier, more resilient future for its people.
