Volunteers help Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez distribute shelter kits to her constituents from the 4th District of Ormoc

More than 100 Mormon Helping Hand volunteers served their "Ormocanon" neighbors by sorting and laying shelter kit materials on the ground for distribution on June 27, 2014 at the Ormoc Stake Center.

Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez expressed her gratefulness to God for the fine weather during the distribution.  She also expressed appreciation to LDS Charities (LDSC) for responding to her request for a donation of shelter kits.  2,000 shelter kits were turned over on June 27, 2014.

Mormon Helping Hands in Action!!!  The Mormon Helping Hands program brings together members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their neighbors to provide community service.  These volunteers in their trademark yellow shirts help people whose lives have been affected by natural disasters and other emergencies. Mormon Helping Hands volunteers also partner with government and nonprofit organizations to support and improve the communities where they live.

It was all smiles as volunteers served despite the heat of the sun.

Missionaries do weekly community service on top of spreading the gospel and inviting people to come unto Christ.  Missionaries assigned in the Ormoc area decided to drop by that day and help out with the shelter kits distribution.

A Mormon Helping Hand volunteer in action! The Helping Hands program reflects the desire of Mormons to follow the example of Jesus Christ by serving others. The effort receives resources from Church humanitarian services, and the projects are coordinated by local Church leaders.

Mormon Helping Hands in action!  The Mormon Helping Hands program was established in 1998, and since then hundreds of thousands of volunteers have donated millions of hours of service to their communities. The program started in South America but has since spread to nearly every corner of the world.
