The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with the help of the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation and the local government unit (LGU) of Asuncion, Davao del Norte, reached out to more than 400 people who received free health care checks on Saturday, October 22.
The team, composed of health professionals and volunteers, provided eye care, dental care, COVID-19 vaccination, and medical checkup. Additionally, two kids with cleft lip and cleft palate patients got screened. As a result, they were scheduled for surgical operations upon completing the info-requisites set by the foundation. While waiting for their medical checkup, the participants enjoyed the Arroz Caldo prepared by the members. As a consolation, participants were offered a complimentary massage.

After the medical mission, President Emerson D. Nang of the Philippines Tagum Stake (diocese) addressed the participants, volunteers, and local leaders, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints highlights serving the community. It shares the true gospel of Jesus Christ thru service."
Atty. Eufracio P. Dayaday, local chief executive of Asuncion Davao del Norte, expressed his gratitude, "My local government unit is truly thankful for this magnificent partnership that everyone is seeing now that resulted in the mounting of today's jampacked medical mission and screening." Furthermore, he was impressed with the efforts of the Church's local leaders, who volunteered their time and efforts to assist in serving hundreds of our beneficiaries who need medical assistance.
Atty. Dayaday stated, "We will do more activities like this in the future if only to ease the medical needs and health burden of our fellowmen not only in Asuncion but also in nearby municipalities here in Davao del Norte. To the Church, kindly accept my deepest thanks again."
Overall, the activity assured the locals of timely medical help from sponsoring institutions. In addition, several cataract patients were scheduled for surgical operations by Mabuhay Deseret Foundation.
