Roina Mosura, one of the fire victims, shared how it was nearly impossible to save any of their possessions due to the rapid spread of the flames. With great gratitude, she expressed her appreciation for the donation that was given. She said, "Thank you for supporting us during this difficult time. Since we do not have extra money to buy these items, these [hygiene kits] are much needed."
The donated hygiene kits each contain a face mask, a face shield, alcohol, soap, toothpaste, and a toothbrush.
The distribution of these kits was done with the help of the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) - Davao, which monitored and ensured that each resident affected by the fire was provided for.
CSSDO volunteer Nic Paul Ronada was impressed at how several groups, including the Chuch and RGMA Super Radyo, had readily offered assistance to those in need. He said, "This truly manifests the 'Bayanihan' in all of us as different offices have come together to provide for these families."
Matina Barangay Captain Nestor Cirunay also expressed gratitude for the assistance offered. He remarked, "We are grateful that several groups have responded to help our community. We [appreciate] all the relief being extended to us. As the head of the barangay, I mourn with my people. [Thank you], these are very helpful during this pandemic."
LDSC and RGMA-Davao have done several projects for calamity-hit communities in Davao City since 2016.
