LDS Charities, MHH Continue to Distribute Food Kits to Flooded Areas

With the recent monsoon weather throughout the Philippines, LDS Charities (LDSC) along with volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continue to distribute, as of date, 17,600 food kits.  

 The affected areas that received food kits include three towns in Pangasinan, flooded barangays in Bataan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Zambales. Members and full-time missionaries gathered to pack rice, corn beef, tuna, sugar, noodles and included drinking water in the food kits.

Mormon Helping Hands (MHH) trudged flooded areas as deep as the neck and waist to deliver clean water and food kits to affected families. The food assistance provided to the affected families help them through the critical days after the storm and widespread flooding.

This emergency response was in coordination with partners such as the Angat Buhay Foundation, Inc. of the Office of the Vice President, and local government units from the affected areas that helped identify and locate families and individuals from the widespread flooding.

Government leaders expressed deep gratitude to LDSC for the assistance provided to the affected families. LDS Charities is the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Its purpose is to relieve suffering, foster self-reliance and provide opportunities for service.
