LDS Charities, RGMA hold 6thMedical Mission in Davao

 

LDS Charities (LDSC), in partnership with Radio GMA DXGM Super Radyo, staged another successful medical mission entitled "Super Radyo Super Serbisyo Publiko 2018" last 23 June 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (CJCLDS) meetinghouse in Brgy Buhangin, Davao City.

This is the 6th medical mission organized by RGMA Super Radyo and LDSC, the humanitarian arm of the Church,  and the 4th time to be held in a CJCLDS Chapel. According to Rodel Natad, RGMA Reporter and Project Coordinator, another one is tentatively set in December this year.

A total of 2,827 beneficaries availed of the following services: medical check-up with free medicines, dental check-up and tooth extraction with free medicines, free toothbrush and toothpaste for children, eye check up with free reading glasses, and screening for minor surgery cataract and cyst.

The following additional non-medical programs and services were also offered on-site: feeding program, free haircut, free body massage, legal consultation, photobooth, PhilHealth, Social Security System and Pag-Ibig Fund Info Booths, Mobile Registration for birth, birth request TC, PSA request for SECPA, Legitimation, etc.

One of the highlights of the event was the Deed of Donation signing between LDSC and Philippine Pharmacists Association, Inc. (PPAI) Davao Chapter. The event signified the formal turn-over of LDSC to PPAI its donation of medical supplies, medicines, dental supplies and services. The donated items were utilized during said medical mission while some were allocated for a second medical mission to be scheduled this year.

The signing was witnessed by representatives from their partner agencies, namely Department of Health XI, Davao City Health Office, Southern Philippines Medical Center-Department of Emergency Medicine, Davao Medical Society, Davao Dental Society, Prosight Optical Inc., University of Mindanao-College of Health Sciences Education, Coast Guard District South Eastern Mindanao, Eastern Mindanao Command, Task Force Davao, Social Secuirty System, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig Fund, Davao City Registrar’s Office, Regional Health Services - Police Regional Office, Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, Maharlika Charity Foundation, Don Antonio Floirendo Sr Foundation, CV Eye Center and the Mindanao Medical Foundation College - College of Optometry.

“This medical mission provides an opportunity for our members to participate as volunteers and see first-hand many people who have sought help. It is a great collaboration of community medical, dental, optical and other services personnel to come together and share their talents and skills in helping those in need,” Kenneth Lee, LD-C Project Manager and LDS Priesthood leader said.

Almost 100 Mormon Helping Hands volunteers provided assistance during the activity.

“DXGM Super Radyo Davao and Latter-Day Saints Charities are committed to public service through social responsibility by doing this humanitarian mission twice a year,” said Ms Arnie Delfin, Station Manager. “Public service as our call is a never ending endeavor," she added.

LDS Charities and Radio GMA DXGM Super Radyo staged the 5th medical mission in Davao City last 9 December 2017.
