Latter-day Saint Charities Donates Livelihood Training Equipment at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa

About 75 guests, including 40 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) attended the handover of livelihood training equipment donations from the Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC) to the Agricultural Division of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) in the Minimum Security Compound, Poblacion Muntinlupa City on June 14, 2022. The project is designed to provide nutritious food in the facility and livelihood training for PDL soon to be released back into society.

Several officers from the three organizations attended the event: C/Supt Jayferson Bon-as, overall Agro Coordinator for BuCor;  Director Glenn Panganiban of the Department of Agriculture -National Urban and Peri-urban Agricultural Program; Elder Steven Leininger and Elder Dell Hill, senior humanitarian missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and General Romeo Elisan, Communication Council Assistant Director for the Church in Muntinlupa City.

During his speech, Director Panganiban said he is pleased and appreciates the donations by the Church that will aim to help the PDL with their livelihood and reformation.

The entire cost of the donation amounted to Php 1,266,048.80 which consisted of the following:

  • 4 sets of mist irrigation
  • 1 module of satellite urban family farm
  • 2 units of cultivators
  • 280 bags of organic basal application
  • 100 bottles of organic liquid frertilizer
  • 5 modules of rabbits for raising
  • 10 colonies of stingless bee
  • 1 set of hive too
  • 2 sets of bee veil
  • 4 units of hive stand metal
  • 1 set of Water Pump

CT/SSUPT John Paul Santos, acting Director for Administration in BuCor extended his gratitude to the donations and shared this quote from a book: “You came to these places not to earn fame, but to show love to those people who are less fortunate.” He assured the stakeholders present that the donations will be taken cared of and put to good use for the benefit of those who need them the most.
