Barangay officials and local health leaders expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting that the equipment will help address urgent healthcare needs in the area.
Cielo Ray Marvi M. Pongase, Punong Barangay of Maranding, thanked the Church for selecting the barangay as a recipient of the donation.
“We are grateful that Barangay Maranding was chosen as a recipient of this health equipment donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” Pongase said.
Supporting Local Health Services
Dr. Charmaine Canopin-Pongase, Municipal Health Officer of Lala, said the local government has been seeking partners who could help strengthen healthcare services for residents experiencing medical challenges.
She shared that discussions with Anthony John Balledos, Humanitarian Services Country Director, opened the opportunity for the Church to extend assistance to the community.
“We have been looking for organizations that could help alleviate the difficulties our constituents are experiencing,” Dr. Canopin-Pongase said. “We hope this will be the beginning of a meaningful partnership between the local government of Barangay Maranding and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in uplifting the lives of our people.”
A Shared Commitment to Compassionate Service
Local Church leaders emphasized that humanitarian efforts reflect a commitment to serve communities and support those in need.
Ariel Bon, President of the Ozamiz District of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work with local leaders and residents.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to show love and care for our fellow brothers and sisters,” Bon said. “Helping one another reflects compassion, a Christlike attribute that inspires us to serve others.”
Also present during the turnover ceremony were Gary Caga, Branch President of the Lala Branch, and Elder and Sister Guenthoer, humanitarian services missionaries. Community members who will benefit from the donated equipment also attended the event.
