Elder Kearon Ministers to Filipino Youth and Young Single Adults in Special Devotional in Alabang

Visiting Apostle shares messages of God’s love and spiritual “lift”

Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accompanied by his wife, Sister Jennifer Kearon, met with 772 youth and young single adults during a special devotional held on November 22, 2025, in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

The Kearons spent the afternoon ministering to the rising generation in the Philippines, teaching about the Savior’s love and how faith in Jesus Christ enables individuals to overcome life’s challenges. Elder Carlos G. Revillo, Jr., and his wife, Sister Marie Revillo, accompanied them and also shared inspiring messages.

Elder and Sister Kearon’s brief visit to the country also included hosting invited guests at the Alabang Philippines Temple Open House and meeting with typhoon survivors in Cebu City.

Teaching Effort and Discipleship

In her remarks, Sister Kearon testified of each young person’s divine worth and irreplaceable role in God’s work. She taught that discipleship requires dedicated effort—“work gloves, not lace gloves”—and encouraged the youth to serve in their homes, communities, and congregations. She invited them to seek the Savior daily and build habits that strengthen faith.

Finding Spiritual “Lift”

Elder Kearon spoke about recognizing moments of “spiritual lift,” likening them to rising air currents that keep a glider in flight. He taught that prayer, scripture study, repentance, and temple worship elevate disciples of Christ, while unwise choices can bring them down spiritually.

He reminded youth and young single adults of Heavenly Father’s desire for His children to experience joy. He invited young men to prepare to serve full-time missions and assured young women that their missionary service, if they choose to serve, is equally valued.

Despite the large crowd and limited time, Elder and Sister Kearon greeted each attendee. They also met with and expressed gratitude to the production crew, staff, and volunteers who supported the event.

To reach youth across the Philippines, the devotional was recorded and briefly posted on the Church’s official Facebook and YouTube channels the following day. The video reached more than 40,000 viewers and generated strong engagement.

Youth and Young Single Adults Share Their Impressions

Several young single adults expressed how the devotional strengthened their faith.

Ensign Mendoza Orcuse, from the Balayan Philippines District, said she felt reminded that Heavenly Father knows her personally.

“It felt like the Lord was telling me, ‘I see you. I know your efforts. I know your heart,’” she said. She added that Elder Kearon’s teachings about choosing to act and lift others “really moved” her and renewed her desire to serve.

Rebecca Alpuerto, of the Lucena Philippines Stake, felt deep comfort when Elder Kearon offered a blessing at the conclusion of the devotional.

“I felt assured that, as a child of God, He wants me to have joy in this life,” she said, calling it a meaningful reminder of her worth as a daughter of Heavenly Father.

Michael Angelo Nanez, also from the Lucena Philippines Stake, said the devotional came at a moment of spiritual discouragement.

“I felt God’s love during Elder Kearon’s message and prayer for the youth,” he shared. He said the Apostle’s words helped him feel hope again, reminding him that a loving Father in Heaven cares for him and desires his happiness.
