Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Ugong Norte Barangay (Village) Chairman Yasi Wells-Jorge to donate personal protective equipment (PPE) on August 12, 2021, in support of the barangay's vaccination efforts against COVID-19.
In a brief handover ceremony, the Church through its humanitarian arm, Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC), donated 1000 face masks and 120 sets of PPE.
Philippines Area President, Elder Taniela B. Wakolo, expressed his admiration for Barangay Ugong Norte's efforts to serve its people and the community. He said, "We are so grateful for your efforts. Thank you for the Christlike love that you have shown. In whatever way that we can, we would like to help your barangay."
Speaking of the donations, Wells-Jorge said, "These are very timely since vaccination efforts are still ongoing. The protective equipment will be utilized by the health workers and other barangay personnel. Thank you so much for your help."
In addition to supporting the barangay's vaccination efforts, LDSC Country Director Jairus Perez also discussed with Wells-Jorge plans to work together for future humanitarian and welfare projects. He said, "We would love to help out with outreach projects you have. Anything that we can do to support you in blessing the community, we are here to serve."
