In a heartwarming display of compassion and service, the Davao West Stake (diocese) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a successful Medical Mission on April 26, 2025, with the theme “Caring Hands, Saving Lives: A Community of Health and Hope.” The event took place at the Davao West Stake Meeting House in Barangay Mintal, Davao City, gathering healthcare professionals, volunteers, and partner organizations to extend free medical services to the community.

The mission offered a wide range of services, including free medical check-ups, optical services with free eyeglasses, and dental extractions. Specialized screening for cataract, cleft lip and palate, and clubfoot was also made available, along with free psychological consultations—addressing both physical and mental health needs.
The half-day event resulted to 227 eye check-ups, 143 eyeglasses distributed, 27 cataract patients identified and lined up for future treatment, 150 tooth extraction patients, 80 medical consultations, and 19 psychological sessions.
“This medical mission is a shining example of what it means to care for one another,” shared by Yolanda Villaflor, a member of Garden Villas Senior Citizen Association, as she expressed appreciation for the help extended to her and four other senior citizens guests. Optical patient May Aquino praised the professional service and warm welcome extended to them by the volunteers.
This meaningful initiative was made possible through the collaboration and support of various partners: Rosh Dental Care, Lungsod ng Dabaw, Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, New Marketlink Pharmaceutical Corporation, Haleon for Health with Humanity, and Eye Style Vision Center. Their generosity and commitment to community service played a vital role in the event’s success.
More than just a medical outreach, this mission reflected the true spirit of unity and care, fostering hope and healing in the lives of many. Through the selfless hands of volunteers and healthcare professionals, the Davao West Stake continues to build a healthier and more compassionate community.
