Church of Jesus Christ Donates Smart TVs to Bataan DepED Teachers

To help improve the learning experience of Filipino children in Bataan, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated a total of 287 units of UHD AI smart TVs to the Department of Education Districts of Orani and Hermosa in back-to-back turnover ceremonies on May 28, 2025.

Orani Turnover Ceremony

Orani Mayor Efren Dominic E. Pascual, Jr. and Municipal Councilor Ma. Abba N. Sicat received the 131 units of LG UHD AI televisions with stands on behalf of the Orani DepED Primary teachers. The event was headed by Dr. Carolina S. Violeta, Schools Division Superintendent of Bataan, Dr. Jeolfa G. Reyes, Public School District Supervisor, and Dr. Jeffrey V. David, Principal II of Orani North Elementary School.

The turnover ceremony was held at the Orani North Elementary School Covered Court, led by President Gil Niño Escalona of the Balanga Philippines Stake (diocese), with Church Humanitarian representatives Elder and Sister Gardner and Elder and Sister Guenthoer.

Mayor Pascual expressed gratitude for the humanitarian efforts of the Church, and Principal David cited how timely the donation was for the opening of the school year 2025-2026. “Because technology plays an important part in interactive learning, this donation will bless many teachers and learners,” shared the Orani North Elementary School head.

The event was capped with the awarding of a plaque of appreciation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a performance of a Filipino folk dance by various school heads.

Hermosa Turnover Ceremony

Later that day, Hermosa Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Carolina S. Violeta and District Supervisor Arlene S. Carlos gathered the recipient educators at Hermosa Elementary School to receive 156 units of LG UHD AI TVs. They also signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Elder and Sister Gardner of Church Humanitarian Services.

Municipal Administrator Rex Jorge, representing Mayor Joseph R. Inton, thanked the Church and encouraged the teachers to take care of the donated items so they will benefit many teachers and learners.

In his concluding remarks, President Gil Niño Escalona shared about the worldwide humanitarian efforts of the Church, emphasizing the collaborative nature of these projects. “We are doing these things because of the two great commandments given by Jesus Christ found in Matthew 22:37-38 – ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself,’” he added.

Song and dance numbers by teachers and selected students added to the festive mood, and the ceremony concluded with a traditional boodle fight.
