Aiming to help more students and teachers in the Philippines, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated two classrooms, two desktop computers, and learning materials to San Vicente Elementary School in San Pablo City, Laguna last November 10, 2023.
Dr. Darius D. Ofrin, Principal of San Vicente Elementary School (SVES), expressed his gratitude to the humanitarian efforts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their support in enhancing the facilities at their school.
In his message, Ofrin said, “All of these donations are considered blessings from our Almighty God, and we are very grateful to Him for bringing [you] into our lives and making our aspirations for the school, for the teachers, and for the learners a reality.”
“From the bottom of our hearts, please accept our heartfelt thanks and love. We love you so much and rest assured that your donations will bring a fruitful outcome, God bless us all,” he added.
San Francisco District Supervisor Rhea A. Dacara shared her insightful experience in the area for many years, underscoring the lack of proper dining facilities at SVES, where she observed children eating outdoors. Witnessing this, she challenged the school leaders to proactively seek assistance from organizations willing to support them with this concern.
“My heart is really, really full when I saw that the children are very happy to welcome you,” Dacara said.
“Your help is very appreciated, and we are grateful to all of you. I hope that there will be more, I wish, I pray, that there will be more schools who will be partners with you or who will be beneficiaries of all these graces from you or from God through you,” she added.
Officer-In-Charge Schools Division Superintendent Gerlie M. Ilagan, CESO VI, recalled her numerous meetings with Church representatives, talking about the welfare of the students within her area. She expressed appreciation to the Church and its members.
“With you around—people like you have heart and commitment—it’s not impossible that we can offer good and quality education,” Ilagan said.
“It is really true that education is a commitment of everyone in the community. It really takes a village to raise and educate the learners that we have… We are committed [to give you a report in] every support and every commitment that you will provide to our schools,” she added.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is dedicated to supporting enhanced education for all. It firmly believes that education plays a vital role in acquiring essential knowledge and skills, promoting self-reliance, supporting future families, and making meaningful contributions to both the Church and the global community.
