As part of ongoing interfaith cooperation, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined the Duyog Ramadan 2026/1447 Hijriah initiative, providing food assistance to Muslim families observing the holy month of Ramadan.
The activity was organized by UniHarmony Partners Manila, a coalition of faith-based and civic organizations working to strengthen dialogue and cooperation among religious communities. During the event, 500 food packs containing rice, cooking oil and other essential items were distributed to families representing seven Muslim groups: Maranao, Tausug, Maguindanao, Iranun, Samal, Yakan and Balik Islam.

The Filipino word “duyog,” which means “to accompany,” reflects the spirit of the initiative — walking side by side in friendship and mutual respect during an important time of religious observance.
Representatives from UniHarmony partner organizations participated in the distribution, which took place in Allahman Compound, Barangay Culiat, Quezon City. Members of the Church also volunteered during the activity, including Brother John Javier of the Quezon City Philippines Stake, who assisted in distributing food packs to families.
Expressions of Gratitude from Community Leaders
Community leaders expressed appreciation for the assistance and the spirit of cooperation shown during the event.
“I would like to thank the Church for all the assistance you have been sharing with us,” said Alliya Noor Joe, Barangay Culiat Peace Officer. “This is a big help for our families.”
Sairah Mandia, Chairwoman of the Alsalam Active Women’s Association, also expressed gratitude for the support provided during Ramadan.
“You have been so kind,” Mandia said. “May Allah bless you for these gifts during this Ramadan. You can see that here in Allahman Compound, everyone is very happy.”
Strengthening Interfaith Friendship
In his opening remarks, Imam Ebra Moxsir, President of the Imam Council of the Philippines, highlighted the purpose of the annual initiative.
“UniHarmony Partners Manila organizes this every year to support our brothers and sisters from different Muslim groups during Ramadan,” he said. “The objective is unity and peace. We want communities built on mutual respect and understanding, free from conflict and filled with harmonious relationships regardless of religion.”
Y. Selim Sirinoglu, President of the Pacific Dialogue Foundation Inc., emphasized the importance of collaboration among faith communities.
“ICAD Foundation has been part of UniHarmony Partners Manila for more than ten years,” Sirinoglu said. “Through programs like this — during Ramadan, Eid al-Adha or Christmas — we try to unite people and serve communities regardless of religion, race or political views.”
Building Peace Through Shared Service
The participation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Duyog Ramadan initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to interfaith cooperation, humanitarian service and community peacebuilding.
Through partnerships such as UniHarmony Partners Manila, faith communities continue to work together to support families, strengthen relationships and promote mutual respect among people of different religious traditions.
