Partnership with Concepcion Elementary School provides training and learning tools to strengthen peer tutoring among students

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, donated Peer-to-Peer Tutor Kits and conducted training for teachers and school personnel at Concepcion Elementary School on March 12, 2026.

The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Schools Division Office of Talisay City, aims to strengthen peer-assisted learning and support literacy development among elementary students.

The turnover ceremony, held at the school campus, brought together educators, school leaders, Church representatives, parents and students in a shared effort to improve learning opportunities for children in the community.

Strengthening Learning Through Partnership

The program opened with remarks from Ms. Lilah Octiva, faculty member of Concepcion Elementary School, who welcomed participants and emphasized the important role of education in community development.

Students from the school also presented a musical number during the ceremony, highlighting the importance of learning programs that support young learners and encourage academic growth.

Dr. Jen-Ann V. Rosal, Officer-in-Charge School Division Superintendent of Talisay City, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Church and recognized the importance of collaboration between community organizations and educational institutions.

She noted that partnerships such as this help address resource gaps and provide students with additional opportunities to succeed.

The Peer-to-Peer Tutor Kits donated during the event include instructional materials designed to help students assist one another in learning key literacy and academic skills. These resources support peer tutoring programs that encourage collaboration and active learning among students.

Training for Effective Program Implementation

Following the turnover ceremony, teachers and school personnel participated in an introductory training session conducted by the Welfare and Self-Reliance (WSR) Committee, which introduced the structure and use of the tutor kits.

The training provided guidance on how the materials can be integrated into classroom activities and peer-learning sessions to maximize their impact on student development.

Church representatives present during the event included President Marno Santander, First Counselor in the Bacolod Philippines North Stake presidency, along with WSR couple missionaries serving in the stake.
