The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, through its Welfare and Self-Reliance Services (WSRS), donated 8,063 classroom chairs to 20 public schools in Bulacan during a turnover ceremony held at Lydia D. Villangca Trade School in San Rafael on September 4.
The event, themed “Strengthening Partnership for Quality Education,” highlighted the Church’s ongoing efforts to bless communities and support education. Local education officials, school principals, teachers, and Church representatives attended the ceremony.
Voices of Appreciation in Bulacan
For many schools, the gift meets a pressing need.
“Our entire community is deeply grateful,” said Francisca Salvador, principal of Minuyan National High School, which received 1,127 chairs for 22 classrooms. “A proper learning environment is essential for students to succeed. These chairs will allow us to give our learners the quality education they deserve.”
At Banga High School, some students had been studying on the floor.
“This will greatly lift the morale of our learners,” shared Principal Frederick Del Rosario, whose school received 540 chairs. “I cannot thank Latter-day Saint Charities enough for extending such generosity—not only to Banga High School but to all the schools receiving these armchairs.”

Service in the Spirit of the Gospel
Humanitarian missionaries Elder and Sister Webb, who led the project, spoke about the spiritual purpose that guided the initiative.
“Education is power,” Elder Webb said. “If we don’t educate these children, they can’t help themselves or others. Providing chairs may seem basic, but it changes lives.”
Sister Webb added, “The Savior taught us to love one another. Helping students who need a simple place to sit is a way to live that teaching. We hope the children will use these chairs well, take full advantage of their education, and one day serve others in return—so the circle of giving continues.”
A Call to Nurture the Rising Generation
President Duante of Baliwag Philippines Stake (diocese) underscored the shared responsibility to uplift the rising generation.
“Whatever our beliefs, we are all brothers and sisters—children of Heavenly Father,” he said. “Let us help the youth so they can study comfortably. It is difficult to learn when there are no chairs.”
This donation project, months in the making, reflects the Church’s commitment to follow Jesus Christ by caring for those in need and strengthening families through education—one chair, and one child, at a time.
