BYU Hosts Virtual Women’s Conference

Relief Society is a cosponsor of the annual event

Latter-day Saint women and men from around the world are gathering virtually this week for the BYU Women’s Conference. Speakers will share uplifting messages on the gospel of Jesus Christ. The all-digital event is co-sponsored by the Relief Society, the women’s organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The annual event normally attracts thousands of guests to the Brigham Young University (BYU) campus in Provo, Utah, in early May, but the COVID-19 pandemic prompted organizers to adjust the schedule. Sessions are being offered at no cost online on Friday, 1 May 2020 (Saturday, 2 May 2020 in the Philippines).

The theme for this year’s virtual event is “Gather All Safely in Christ.” The women’s conference is being streamed in three languages: English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The general session begins with a two-part live stream, beginning at 10 a.m. mountain daylight time (12:00 m.n. PH time). Sandra Rogers, chair of this year’s conference, will discuss the theme. Kate Holbrook, a managing historian of the Church History Department, will make a presentation titled “The Continuing Restoration and Gathering of Israel.”

The general session will be streamed live on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, the Church’s YouTube channel and various social media channels. The videos will also be archived on the Church and BYU websites.

Following the live stream, leaders of the Church will answer questions submitted by women all over the world in a prerecorded “Sister to Sister” conversation at 11 a.m. (1:00 a.m. PH time). The panel includes Sister Reyna I. Aburto, second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency; Sister Becky Craven, second counselor in the Young Women general presidency; and Sister Lisa L. Harkness, first counselor in the Primary general presidency. Sister Tracy Browning of the Relief Society general board will moderate the discussion.

At noon, four video-on-demand sessions will be available on YouTube. Speakers include Sister Jean B. Bingham and Sister Sharon Eubank of the Relief Society general presidency and others.
