Ascent Scholarship Program

The Ascent Scholarship Program is a special scholarship for high school students and recent high school graduates who are faithful Filipino members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This program is funded by a private donor. Five scholars from Batch 1 were already admitted to School Year 2018-2019 while 3 students from Batch 2 qualified for School Year 2019-2020.

The potential scholar needs to pass the Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET) and desires to pursue a course of study at the Ateneo de Manila University (Katipunan Campus) in Math, Computer Science, Physics or Data Science.

The donors have encouraged those who will be taking the September 2019 testing dates to immediately contact Ascent as soon as the student passes the ACET when decisions are given by January 2020.

For those who are interested but have not applied, a second exam will be held by January 2020. Students or parents need to contact the Office of Admission and Aid of the Ateneo de Manila University for more details on the application process at telephone number (632) 426-6001 Local 5154-5155.

Interested high school seniors who will take and pass the ACET will be reimbursed for the cost of the examination. The scholarship will pay full tuition. It will also pay for books, a laptop, housing, and living expenses as needed.

Families that are interested in the Ascent scholarship are advised to encourage their children and youth to prepare, apply, and enroll in schools that put a premium on the Math and Sciences like the science high schools from both public or private institutions. This will give them an advantage when they apply to Ateneo.

To be eligible for an Ascent scholarship, students will need to:

·       Qualify for admission and be accepted by the Ateneo de Manila University

·       Be admitted to one of the degree programs: BS in Physics, BS in Computer Science, BS in Applied Mathematics (Honors Courses). These should be the courses indicated on the application form.

·       Commit to and serve a full-time mission following their first year of school (for men) and second year of school (for women)
