Davao Welcomes the #LightTheWorld Giving Machines Anew at Ayala Malls Abreeza

The Light the World Giving Machines returned to Davao on December 1, 2025 after a strong and enthusiastic response from donors last year. This second season of the Giving Machines continues to open meaningful opportunities for Davao residents to uplift children and families in need.

This year’s launch was held again at the third level Expansion Wing of Ayala Malls Abreeza. Guests, partners, beneficiaries, and families gathered to witness the unveiling and take part in another year of Christ-centered giving in the region.

Presiding at the launch was Elder Carlos G. Revillo Jr., Philippines Area President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accompanied by Sister Marie Revillo. “These brightly red machines have become a symbol of instant compassion. The Giving Machines are unique because they allow us to purchase for someone else,” he said.

“This Christmas season, amid the many challenges our nations have faced, we can still find peace. We can still find hope in the One who is the true reason for the season, our Savior Jesus Christ.”

The launch also featured messages from partner organizations that assist Davao’s most vulnerable communities. Representatives such as Sister Nerissa B. Batiao from the Archdiocesan Nourishment Center, Mr. Roy Linao from House of Hope, and Ms. Ana Marie Ocampo Mabini of SOS Children’s Village Philippines discussed their programs and services. They explained how donations support nutrition initiatives, psychosocial care for children with cancer, and long-term shelter and education for at-risk youth, among other programs.

Celebrity hosts Eric “Eruption” Tai, Xia Vigor, and Jairus Aquino brought energy and warmth to the program. Their presence helped introduce the Giving Machines to new audiences and encouraged families and young people to participate.

A video presentation on the #LightTheWorld initiative showed how the machines have touched lives across the Philippines. It also demonstrated how the strong donor response has enabled the program to reach more beneficiaries and host cities worldwide.

Visitors to the Giving Machines may donate a wide range of items, from food support and learning materials to mental health services, therapeutic play spaces for children undergoing cancer treatment, and scholarships for vulnerable youth. Every peso donated through the Davao Giving Machines goes directly to the selected local charities, with administrative and marketing costs fully covered by the Church.

The press meet held at Seda Abreeza Hotel allowed journalists, content creators, and influencers to learn more about the impact of last year’s donations and the expanded offerings for 2025. Many expressed interest in how Davao’s strong donor participation continues to strengthen humanitarian partnerships in the region.

Recently, the Church initiated several humanitarian campaigns in the Davao region, including providing water, sanitation, and electricity to Maa Elementary School, supporting local hospitals and clinics with essential equipment, and partnering with interfaith, local government, and business entities to help those in need.

The Church has recently completed the construction of the Davao Philippines Temple and has announced its Open House starting on March 26, 2026, and its dedication by Elder Dale G. Renlund of The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on May 3, 2026.

Last year, the global #LightTheWorld campaign recorded more than 850,000 visitors who donated nearly 500,000 items worldwide. In the Philippines, more than 8,000 donors contributed more than PHP 750,000. To support more beneficiaries, the Church donated PHP 500,000 to each of the 2024 charity partners in addition to the donations collected during the one-month campaign.

The Davao Giving Machines will remain open at Ayala Malls Abreeza until January 6, 2026, allowing residents, mall goers, visitors, and friends many opportunities to make simple but meaningful contributions.
