Philippine Media Abuzz Over Alabang Temple Open House

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invited journalists, reporters, desk editors, bloggers, and social media influencers to a guided tour of the newly completed Alabang Philippines Temple on November 17, 2025.

More than 60 members of the media from Metro Manila and major outlets across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were in attendance. Traditional and digital media representatives were given a rare first look inside the sacred and beautifully designed spaces where members of the Church perform important sacred ordinances.

Elder James R. Rasband of the General Authority Seventy, who also serves as Assistant Executive Director of the Temple Department at Church headquarters, hosted the exclusive briefing and tour. He was joined by Elder Carlos G. Revillo Jr., Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong, and Elder William K. Jackson of the Philippines Area Presidency, along with their wives.

“I’m excited because we have a chance to share with you just a bit about how temples fit into our religious doctrine,” Elder Rasband said in his welcome remarks.

“I hope that you will see that the temple teaches that Jesus Christ is at the center of all of our doctrine, that we build temples because we believe that because of Jesus, we can be resurrected and live together again,” he added.

During the press briefing and tour, Church leaders explained why temples are important to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, what ordinances are conducted inside the various rooms, and why the Church continues to build temples in the Philippines and around the world.

“I truly believe that this temple will be a blessing to our beloved country. Having another temple here will bless the lives of Filipinos in many ways,” Elder Revillo said.

The Public Open House of the Alabang Philippines Temple will officially begin on Friday, November 21, 2025, and will run until Saturday, December 13, 2025, except Sundays. It will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Open House enables people of all faiths to tour the temple’s interior and grounds, learning about the purpose of these sacred structures. Tours are free, and no reservations are needed. More information is available at alabangphilippinestemple.org.

After the Public Open House, the temple will close in preparation for its dedication and subsequent operations. At that time, only Latter-day Saints with a temple recommend were allowed to enter and participate in sacred ordinances.

The temple will be formally dedicated on Sunday, January 18, 2026. Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the Church’s second-highest governing body, will preside at the dedication. Details on the dedicatory sessions, including broadcast information, will be announced soon.

The temple is located in Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City, and features design elements highlighting the beauty and cultural heritage of the Philippines. Its exterior and interior details include representations of the sampaguita, the country’s national flower.

There are more than 900,000 Latter-day Saints in the Philippines, worshipping in over 1,300 congregations. Once dedicated, the Alabang Philippines Temple will serve members living in the southern part of Luzon. Additional temples are under construction or have been announced in Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Iloilo, Laoag, Naga, San Jose del Monte, Santiago, Tacloban City, and Tuguegarao City.

Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from meetinghouses or chapels, where members gather for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a house of the Lord, where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through sacred ordinances that unite families eternally. In temples, Church members learn more about God’s plan and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve others.
